A resident of a Pettis County Assisted Living has been charged with first-degree assault following an incident where he purportedly attacked and fractured the jaw of another resident.

Tyler K. Thomas was subjected to a 24-hour hold, as per the probable cause statement. Following that, a warrant for his arrest was issued on Tuesday, with a bond set at $50,000. No court date has been scheduled yet.

According to the probable cause statement, a Pettis County Sheriff’s deputy responded to a call around 9:45 p.m. Monday reporting an assault at the facility. Staff informed deputies that upon checking on the victim, they found him seriously injured.

The statement further alleges that Thomas confronted the victim in his room after claiming that the victim had solicited sexual acts from Thomas’ girlfriend, to which she had apparently agreed. The victim, described in court documents as missing his right foot and permanently confined to a wheelchair, was then reportedly assaulted by Thomas, who later confessed to the attack.

The victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment of his injuries, which included fractures in his face, jaw, and eye socket. According to court documents, the victim expressed confusion and stated he did not recognize his assailant.
