Several Saline County Career Center DECA student competed at the DECA International Career Development Competition, and one student earned a top 20 medal.

The competition was held April 27-30 in Anaheim, California. While attending the final competition in California, Peyton Marshall earned a top 20-finalist placement. Marshall is the first sophomore to final for the SCCC DECA chapter. This year’s conference featured over 23,000 members and advisors in attendance. In addition to career-based competition, DECA members engaged in leadership academies and networking opportunities with over 70 internationally recognized businesses and universities. All 50 states were represented at ICDC as well as countries from Canada, Puerto Rico, Guam, China, and Germany.

Holly Huston received several scholarships via National DECA for her role as Central Region Vice President.

Along with Peyton Marshall making it as a top 20 finalist, Michelle Lin, Jackson Russell, Ethan Russell, and Trevor Watkins all placed within the top 25% of their categories and represented their chapter and Missouri DECA well.

Peyton Marshall and her advisor, Kerry Henley, will be recognized at the Excellence in Marketing Education ceremony on May 15. The ceremony will be honoring ICDC Missouri finalists and will be held in the Governor’s Mansion located in Jefferson City. A reception will follow. Each finalist will receive an official proclamation or resolution highlighting his/her accomplishments.
