katie-pile

Kathryn Mae Elsea Pile, aka, Katie Pile, passed peacefully May 4th, 2024, after suffering from dementia. She is now in heaven, rejoined with her husband, T. North Pile; her parents, C. Wayne Elsea and Pauline Sappington Elsea; along with other loved ones. She is survived by Paula Pile (Dale) and her stepchildren, Tiffany Sepanski (daughter Brinley) and Todd Brinley (daughter Anna and son Ty); Tom Pile (Barb); Beth Pile (Sally); and John Pile (Kathy) and their son, Nathan (Megan and their daughter Avery), and their daughter, Ally Lyon (Gary and their daughter Emma Rose).

Katie was born in Marshall, MO on September 30, 1931. She graduated from high school in Kansas City at Barstow School. While she graduated from college at University of Arizona with a teaching degree, she joined her husband in her love of the Mizzou Tigers. They tailgated for many, many years, hardly missing a home football game, until their health prevented them to continue on.

Katie loved teaching grade school while living in Marshall. She enjoyed needlework, reading, traveling, playing bridge, and drinking red wine. She was also very active with PEO and her church (she was an Elder at Lake Ozark Presbyterian Church), as well as volunteered at the Willmore Lodge and Bagnell Dam Historical Museum.

A celebration of her life will take place at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, MO at a later date yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The T. North Pile Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund (contact Stephanie Priesmeyer, Associate AD – donations at 573-882-0704) or Gentiva Hospice (https://app.etapestry.com/onlineforms/GentivaFoundation/GHS.html).
