Two Marshall High School students competed in the Optimist Oratory State Finals competition this past weekend.

Andrea Gooden placed first at the event and was the winner of a $2,500 scholarship. Gooden now advances to the International Optimist Oratory Championships, which will be held in St. Louis in July.

Michelle Lin also competed at the event, representing the Marshall Optimist Clubs.
