The Odessa Board of Aldermen appointed a new Ward 2 Alderman during its meeting on Monday, May 14.

The board appointed Mike Plachte to fill the vacant position in Ward 2. The position was left vacant after Bryan Barner was elected as Mayor in April 2024. Plachte will fill the rest of the term, which expires in April 2025.

The board also approved several appointments to the Planning Commission, the Board of Adjustment, the Board of Appeals, and the Parks Board.

Matthew Modlin and Vicki Pavlovsky were re-appointed to the Planning Commission for a term of four years. Jason Hawkins and William “BJ” Begeman were re-appointed to the Board of Adjustment for five years. Rick Barker and Dennis Summers were re-appointed to the Board of Appeals for two years. Gerald Gittenger, Alan Barner, and Logan Seals were re-appointed to the Parks Board for three years.
