Marshall Parks and Recreation Director Chad Unterreiner is stepping down from the position after five years with the community.

Unterreiner has accepted a Director position at another Parks and Recreation Department. He said it was a hard decision to make, but he wanted to move closer to family and make the best long-term decision.

Unterreiner says he is proud of the work he and the Park Board were able to accomplish during his tenure as director, which includes several projects and putting the department in a good financial spot.

The Park Board will take some time during the summer to find a suitable replacement for Unterreiner. Unterreiner says he is thankful for the support from the community and hopes they’ll continue to support the Marshall Parks and Recreation Department.

Unterreiner’s last day as director will be Sunday, June 2.
