According to Sheriff Brad Anders of Pettis County, on May 18th, around 9:53 PM, a Pettis County Deputy observed a vehicle speeding westbound on US 50 Highway near Carroll Road in LaMonte, traveling at 94 mph in a 65 mph zone. The Deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, which then accelerated to over 100 mph, initiating a pursuit. The chase continued into Johnson County, involving multiple law enforcement agencies.
The suspect vehicle, driven by Samuel Lynch of Grain Valley, navigated through construction zones and rural roads, eventually turning off its lights and trying to evade the Deputy in a driveway. Lynch then accelerated toward the Deputy, who managed to avoid a collision. The pursuit resumed until the vehicle malfunctioned near Whiteman Airforce Base, leading Lynch to flee on foot while wearing a ski mask. Deputies pursued Lynch, who drew a handgun but dropped it after tripping. Deputies apprehended Lynch, who admitted to possessing fentanyl.
A search of the vehicle uncovered counterfeit pills, suspected heroin, and another loaded firearm. It was discovered that Lynch and three others in the vehicle had committed an armed robbery in Johnson County earlier that evening. The suspects and evidence were turned over to Johnson County authorities. Lynch faces multiple charges from the Pettis County Prosecutor’s Office, including resisting arrest, assault, unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action, and driving offenses. The operation involved the cooperation of several law enforcement agencies.
