The Concordia Board of Aldermen held a discussion over replacing the HVAC and elevator units of the Concordia Community Center during its meeting on Monday, May 20.

City Administrator Dale Klussman said the board has plans to replace the HVAC units in the Community Center and will accept bids soon.

Klussman also said the elevator in the community center has had issues as well. The board has already received one bid to modernize the elevator, but wants review more bids before accepting a proposal.

In other news, Emergency Management Director Jim Mills discussed the policy and protocols for the sounding of emergency sirens during storms. Mills said the sirens only go off when he has confirmation of tornadoes, or tornado-like activity in the area. Mills also said that he will be conducting a Weather Watchers class in spring 2025 for anyone interested. The exact date and time is to be determined.
