Missouri has experienced a turnaround from drought conditions due to above-average rainfall, with April alone recording 6.01 inches, making it the 15th-wettest April on record. While agricultural impacts have been limited, challenges persist in planting and fieldwork due to the timing of rainfall.

Despite recent improvements, Missouri remains at risk of drought, especially with the potential shift to La Niña conditions in the Pacific Ocean. La Niña typically brings cooler ocean temperatures, affecting global weather patterns and often leading to drier conditions in the central U.S.

Governor Mike Parson has extended the state’s drought alert until September 1, with continuous monitoring by the Drought Assessment Committee.
