Martha Jane Vogelsmeier, 102, of rural Sweet Springs, MO, died Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at the Good Shepherd Care Community in Concordia, MO.

 

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Fairview Cemetery in Sweet Springs. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to family choice in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home. Friends may sign the online register book at www.campbell-lewis.com

 

Born May 27, 1921, in Corder, MO, she was the daughter of the late Archie Carlton and Opal Trueheart Guard Carlton. On May 4, 1941, she married Elbert Vogelsmeier who preceded her in death on April 12, 2009. She lived most of her life in rural Sweet Springs and was a homemaker. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, crafting and traveling.

 

Survivors include one son, John C. Vogelsmeier (Susan) of rural Sweet Springs; three grandsons, Doug Vogelsmeier (Kim), Duane Vogelsmeier (Julie) and Matt Vogelsmeier (Kohl); seven great-grandchildren, Blake Vogelsmeier, Nathan Vogelsmeier, Riley Vogelsmeier, Mikalah Boehmer, Makenzie Vogelsmeier, DeLana Vogelsmeier and Jillian Vogelsmeier; and three great-great-grandsons, Knox and Nash Vogelsmeier and McCoy Boehmer; and nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son in infancy, David Vogelsmeier; three sisters, Margaret Alumbaugh, Marie Oyler and Mary Beck; and two brothers, Benton and Bill Carlton.
