Missouri Valley College Athletic Director Mike Machholz announces that men’s wrestling team Head Coach Pat Giangrosso has stepped down from his position with the program.

Machholz says the college will begin a national search immediately.

The Missouri Valley College men’s wrestling program is one of the most successful in the history of the NAIA, winning three team National titles, finishing National runner-up an additional four times, placing in the top ten at the National championship 24 times and winning 11 regional championships. The program has also produced 171 All-Americans, which ranks third all-time in the NAIA, 36 National finalists and 18 individual National champions, which ranks fourth all-time among active NAIA programs.

Giangrosso recently completed his second season as head coach of the men’s wrestling program, and guided the team to a No. 7 finish at the 2024 NAIA Men’s Wrestling National Championship, the highest finish since 2018. He also produced the program’s first individual National championship, Chase Zollmann at 149 pounds, since 2016 and totaled three All-Americans. Giangrosso finishes his career with a duals record of 17-6.

Giangrosso has been involved with the men’s wrestling program since competing as a student-athlete in 1999. He was a two-time All-American, and was a member of one National championship team, 2003, and two National runner-up teams, 2000 and 2001. Giangrosso then became a member of the coaching staff following the 2003 season before eventually taking over the head coaching position following the 2022 season.

Machholz thanked Giangrosso for his service to MVC and the wrestling program. Giangrosso stepped down and is beginning a new role as head boy wrestling coach at Warrensburg High School.
