
The Kansas City Royals defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 7-4 in an extra-inning thriller. Kansas City struck first, scoring a run each in the second and third inning. The Rays
responded with runs in the fourth and fifth. The game was tied 3-3 after the ninth, forcing extras. Both teams traded runs in the tenth, but Kansas City came with three runs in the eleventh to pull out the victory. Nelson Velazquez homered and drove in two runs. Brady Singer went five innings, allowing one earned run on four hits. Nick Anderson picked up the save, closing the door in the eleventh. The Royals have now won eight in a row and improve to 34-19 on the season.
