
The Johnson County Commission has approved increased food permit fees to take effect July 1st.
During their regular meeting Tuesday, commissioners reviewed and approved an updated Environmental Health Ordinance Fee Schedule for Food Service, submitted by the Johnson County Community Health Services Board of Trustees. Starting July 1st, food permit fees will increase by $50, with low risk establishments paying $100, medium risk $150, and high risk establishments charged $200. The commission also approved fees for food safety training and for re-inspection. Temporary food establishment fees were left unchanged.
Also at Tuesday’s meeting, commissioners agreed to add a deputy coroner to the Johnson County Coroner’s Office. Corporal Detective Jennifer Howser, who is currently assigned to the county prosecutor’s office, will assume the role. The new position comes with a $10,000 salary. Commissioners also named Brad Carper, Jr. and Jerry Shreve as members of the county’s board of equalization.
