A Glasgow native will retire from the Missouri State Highway Patrol this weekend after almost 31 years of service.
The patrol announced Thursday morning that Captain Dusty Hoffman, director of the patrol’s Public Information and Education Division, will retire June 1st. Until this past February, Hoffman was director of the Governor’s Security Division, a post he had held since 2017. He was responsible for arranging and providing security for Eric Greitens and later Mike Parson on several international trips. Hoffman also served as part of then-Governor Jay Nixon’s security detail from 2010 to 2014, accompanying him during visits to Joplin in the aftermath of the May 2011 tornado, and on a trade mission to China later that year.
Hoffman grew up in Glasgow and joined the U.S. Air Force after graduating from Glasgow High School in 1989. After his honorable discharge, Hoffman was appointed to the patrol in August 1993, where he served Moniteau and Morgan counties. He later was assigned to Boone County and was a assistant zone supervisor for Cooper and Howard counties before transferring to the gaming division.
