Connie Marie Rehkop, 55, of Concordia, MO, died Friday, May 31, 2024, at Good Shepherd Care Community in Concordia.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Concordia with Rev. Michael Pottschmidt officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to St. Paul’s Comfort Dogs or Special Olympics.  An online guestbook is available at www.campbell-lewis.com.

Born June 7, 1968, in Sweet Springs, she was the daughter of the late Melvin and Elva Martens Rehkop and lived most of her life on the family farm.  In 2016, she moved to a group home in Higginsville where she lived life to the fullest.  A year ago, due to her health, she moved to the Good Shepherd Care Community.  Connie worked at Lafayette County Enterprises, a sheltered workshop in Higginsville, for 35 years, where she had many lifelong friends.  She loved bowling and everything Special Olympics.  Connie was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where she confirmed her faith in Christ on June 9, 1985, with Pastor Rodewald.

Connie is survived by four siblings: Patty McGinnis and Marilyn Borgstadt (Dick) of Concordia, John Rehkop (Lena) of Burlington, OK and Janet Rehkop of Kansas City, MO; four nephews: Jason McGinnis, Brandon and J.J. Rehkop, and Michael Borgstadt; her special niece, Tammy McGinnis; an aunt, Marlene Lange of Warsaw, MO; as well as many cousins.  She is also survived by a most special friend for 20 years, Andrew Bear of Higginsville; Donna Faught, who filled a void and became a second mom to Connie, of Higginsville; her housemates at the group home, Jimmy Godfrey and Reed Little, who were like brothers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Elva; and three nephews: Joe and Justin McGinnis, and Brian Borgstadt.

Connie loved life!  She gave many hugs and much love.  The Concordia community, her friends, and her family loved her back.  Connie’s life was so blessed.
