Baeza says the bridge was already being considered for replacement when it was closed following a routine inspection by the Missouri Department of Transportation. He adds that commissioners are eager to get to work on the replacement.

Widel Inc. of Blackwater submitted the low bid of $500,000. The commission had budgeted up to $800,000 for the project.
