Motorists will need to find detours around a pair of closures on Missouri Route 5 this month, as part of a road improvement project through Chariton and Linn counties.

The Missouri Department of Transportation has closed the highway in Marceline under the bridge carrying the BNSF Railway. The closure began this (Monday) morning and is expected to last last until Sunday to allow concrete repair to take place on the road surface. Following this closure, crews will then close the Norfolk Southern underpass just south of the junction with Route 24 west of Salisbury. That closure is expected to last from June 10th until the 16th. Detours will be signed.
