The Missouri Public Service Commission is seeking comment on Evergy’s request to reduce a fee the utility collects on customer bills.

In a pair of applications filed with the PSC, Evergy’s Missouri West and Missouri Metro divisions seek to decrease the Demand-Side Programs Mechanism charge, which Evergy uses to recover program costs and incentives under the Missouri Energy Efficiency Investment Act. If approved, residential customers served by Evergy Missouri West would see this fee decrease by $1.25 per month for each 1000 kilowatt-hours of electricity used, while customers serviced by the metro division would see this fee decrease by $0.60.

Citizens wishing to comment on these proposals may contact the Office of Public Counsel (Governor Office Building, 200 Madison Street, Suite 650, P.O. Box 2230, Jefferson City, MO 65102-2230, telephone (866) 922-2959, e-mail opcservice@opc.mo.gov) or Public Service Commission Staff (P.O. Box 360, Jefferson City, MO 65102, telephone 1-800-392-4211, e-mail pscinfo@psc.mo.gov).

Entities seeking to intervene and participate in the case have until June 21st to submit an application to the Commission’s secretary.

These fee adjustment requests are separate from another application Evergy submitted in February to the PSC, seeking a net increase in its base rates. Hearings on that proposal are set for late July in Lee’s Summit, St Joseph and Sedalia.
