The Marshall City Council approved amendments to their solid waste contract with RTS.
Council members voted 7-0, with one member absent, to the changes during their regular meeting Tuesday night. Mayor Vince Lutterbie says the changes address several issues that have emerged over the years.
During public comment, resident Tom Ward criticized how the contract also provides RTS with exclusive rights to service commercial dumpsters. Lutterbie says the city remains open to reviewing and amending the contract as issues arise.
Also at Tuesday’s meeting, the council approved the rezoning of two parcels of land on N. Miami from C-1 Central Business District to I-H Heavy Industrial.
Marshall’s city council also approved issuing liquor licenses to Marshall BP and Guerrero’s Mexican Cuisine, and for a funding request from the Marshall Chamber of Commerce for next month’s Fourth of July Fireworks show.
