Shirley Jean Martin, 86, of Marshall, MO, died Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Westport Estates Assisted Living.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall with William W. Harlow officiating.  Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and an online guestbook is available at www.campbell-lewis.com.

Born May 5, 1938, in Marshall, MO, she was the daughter of the late Henry Virden and Eula Butts Virden.  On October 7, 1960, she married Thomas “Tom” Martin Jr. who preceded her in death on August 28, 2003.  Shirley lived in Marshall all of her life and worked as a beautician for nearly 40 years, later owning and operating Magic Mirror Beauty Salon until her retirement on May 31, 2007.  She was an excellent cook and enjoyed playing bingo.

Survivors include two sons, Kevin T. Martin (Lisa) and Jeff “Woody” Martin, both of Marshall; four grandchildren: Ashley Hubbard (Josh), Amber Martin (Dakota), Ariel Martin (Aaron) and Samantha Runser (Grady); 11 great-grandchildren; companion, Danny Walker of rural Nelson; as well as nieces and nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and husband; one brother, Clarence Virden; two sisters, Ruby Brumble and Daisy Merchant; and one granddaughter, Allyson Patton.
