Spire Missouri’s natural gas customers in western Missouri are expected to see lower rates as a result of a purchased gas adjustment rate change.

In a filing with the Missouri Public Service Commission that takes effect Wednesday, Spire West’s 530,000 customers will see their rate decrease by a dime to $0.92 per 100 cubic feet. The PSC says the rate reflects estimated changes in the wholesale cost of natural gas.

The PSC added that the cost from wholesale suppliers normally accounts for 50 to 55 percent of a customer’s total monthly natural gas bill. While the cost is not regulated by the Commission, the Commission conducts an annual review to ensure that regulated companies are making prudent decisions for their customers.
