The Kansas City Royals erased an eight run deficit and rallied in the bottom of the ninth inning for a walk-off 10-9 win over the Seattle Mariners on Friday, June 7.

Seattle stunned the Royals by scoring seven runs in the first inning. They added another run in the fourth before Kansas City finally got on the board.

The Royals chipped away at the lead, scoring four runs in the fourth and three more in the sixth. Down 9-7 in the bottom of the ninth, Maikel Garcia drove home a run with an RBI ground-out, before Bobby Witt Jr. tied the game with an RBI triple.

The Royals would win the game a few batters later with a fielder’s choice, scoring Witt.

Daniel Lynch gave up eight runs in four innings of work. Chris Stratton, Will Klein, and Nick Anderson combined for five innings out of the bullpen, only allowing one run.

Witt had three hits and an RBI. MJ Melendez homered and drove in four.

Kansas City improves to 38-26 on the season. Kansas City is three games behind Cleveland for the AL Central lead.
