
The Marshall Police Department, Saline County Ambulance (SCAD), and Marshall Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident on Highway 65, between Vest and Arrow Street at 12:33 p.m. Monday, June 10.
Personnel arrived on the scene and learned from the driver on the scene that they were traveling south on U.S. Highway 65 when another vehicle swerved into their lane. The driver in the first vehicle said they swerved to keep from hitting Vehicle 2 and struck a light pole. The driver of Vehicle 1 had minor injuries to the shoulder and face.
Officers learned that Vehicle 2 continued north on U.S. 65 and after going through the intersection of Arrow and Highway 65, drove off the roadway and down an embankment coming to a stop near the railroad tracks.
When officers arrived at Vehicle 2’s location, it was on fire. Officers removed the driver from the burning vehicle. The driver appeared to have burns to the lower back and was transported by SCAD to the hospital for treatment. One officer who was on scene was also transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation and later released. The Marshall Fire Department arrived and extinguished the fire to Vehicle 2.
It is believed the driver of Vehicle 2 was experiencing a medical issue at the time of the accidents. No other information is available at this time.
