
Lucy R. Brandon, 87, of Slater, died Thursday, June 13, 2024 at Big Bend Retreat in Slater.
Funeral services will be Monday, June 17, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church in Slater, with Cedric Davis officiating. Burial will be in Slater City Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the services at First Baptist Church. Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church or Big Bend Retreat in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.
Born May 8, 1937 in Denver, Colorado, she was the daughter of the late Oliver C. and Bonnie Palmer Maxwell. On July 15, 1961 in Denver, she married Jesse E. Brandon, and he preceded her in death on June 26, 1999.
She is survived by two sons, Edward Brandon (Keith) of Bloomington, Indiana, and John A. Brandon (Nicholle) of Clinton, Missouri; a daughter, Bonnie Bingaman (David) of Slater; two grandchildren, Brandon Bingaman and Lindsey Renne; and three grandchildren, Jesse Bingaman, Jackson Bingaman, and Theo Roberts. She was preceded in death by two brothers, George Maxwell, and Oliver Maxwell.
Mrs. Brandon was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Slater, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, Sunday school director, and assisted in the kitchen ministry. She worked at Marshall Habilitation Center in Marshall as an Education Assistant for 23 1/2 years before her retirement. She later worked as Manager of the Slater Senior Center for eight years.
