The Marshall Municipal Utilities Board of Public Works took several actions during its meeting on Thursday, June 13.
The board started by considering a motion to purchase two new intercoolers for the Electric Production Department. Electric Production Director Jarad Muller said the current units are starting to show signs of cooling-loss and corrosion. New coolers would help the efficiency of the unit and help avoid downtime due to a leak in the cooler.
The board approved Muller’s recommendation to purchase two new intercoolers using quotes.
The board also reviewed bids for a spreader truck for the Water Treatment Plant. This vehicle enables MMU to spread lime sludge from the water treatment plant to local area farmland. The board reviewed three bids, all from Meyers Truck Service. After some consideration over the cost of the bids and the delivery time on the vehicles, the board approved the low-bid in the amount of $208,643.28 for a used, 2016 7500 sfa 6×4 truck. MMU is expecting to receive the vehicle in October 2024.
