27 Dogs and puppies were rescued from an abandoned house in Carroll County after actions taken by the Humane Society of Missouri’s Animal Cruelty Task Force (ACT) on Friday, June 7.

Carroll County authorities notified the Task Force about dogs living in a residence that had been condemned and slated for demolition. It was reported that the home owners had moved to a new property, but were not allowed to bring the animals with them, and were trying to care for the dogs remotely.

A number of the dogs on the property were not spayed or neutered, resulting in the task force rescuing 12 six-week-old puppies. The Task Force says the dogs and puppies were being deprived of the basic necessities for a healthy and happy life, as well as necessary medical care.

At least two dogs have skin issues, likely due to parasites, and they were all dehydrated. Further testing is being conducted on all the animals by the Humane Society of Missouri.

If you suspect an animal is being abused or neglected, you are encouraged to call the ACT hotline at (314) 647-4400.
