The Missouri Valley College men’s rodeo team finished third round performances at the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyoming, Thursday evening.

Ty Pope was the only cowboy to compete, performing in the third go-round of bareback riding. Pope finished with a 79.5 that put him third in the go-round standings. He also earned scores of 80 and 79.5 in the first two go-rounds, and now has a 239 in the average to sit at third overall. Pope also sits at second in the men’s all-round with a total of 170.

Pope is the only Viking cowboy to earn a berth into the short go-round, Saturday evening. He will compete for a potential National title in bareback riding, sitting three in the average back of first place. Pope was the 2022 National champion in the event, and finished third at last year’s CNFR in bareback riding.

The Viking men’s rodeo team is currently No. 11 in the team standings with 235 points.

Saturday’s short go-round will start at 7 p.m., in Casper.
