
Joan H. Carter, 92, of Marshall, MO, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall, MO.

Born October 11, 1931, in Amarillo, TX, she was the daughter of the late Paul W. Cronkhite and Helen Kramer Cronkhite. She grew up in Denver, CO, moving to Marshall in 1952 where she raised her two children and completed her Bachelor’s Degree at Missouri Valley College. On July 19, 1982, in Marshall, she married James B. Carter and moved to Green Ridge, MO. She and Jim danced at the Moose Lodge, spent winters in Texas and enjoyed playing cards. Jim preceded her in death on January 27, 2015 when she returned to Marshall.
Survivors include one son, Mark Humphreys (Carol) of Sterling, IL and their daughters, Rachel Humphreys and Lauren Humphreys; one daughter, Diana McCartney of Marshall and her daughter, Grace Durham (Justin) and their daughters, Melanie Durham and Addie Durham; Jim’s children, Mike (Suetta) Carter and their three children and six grandchildren; Sharon Meyer (Johnny) and their two children and four grandchildren; Karen Brockman (Wes) and their two children and two grandchildren; and Vicki Hardy (Charles) and their four children, 10 grand-children and one great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents and husband, Joan was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Cronkhite.
