A Glasgow woman suffered serious injuries after a three-vehicle accident shut down Route 240 in Orearville on Monday afternoon.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a vehicle driven by 18-year-old Autumn Gier of Slater had slowed down for traffic on west Route 240 near the intersection with Route P around 12:40. A semi-truck driven by 37-year-old Trent Templeton of Sedalia attempted to overtake Gier’s vehicle, but struck the vehicle’s rear and jackknifed into the opposite lane. A pickup driven by 21-year-old Miranda Cooper of Glasgow was in the lane and unable to stop, colliding with the semi.
Cooper was flown to a Columbia hospital with serious injuries. Gier was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries, while Templeton had no reported injuries. The highway was closed for about four hours as the highway patrol, Saline County Sheriff’s Department, and Saline County Fire and EMS responded to the accident. All drivers were wearing their seat belts, according to troopers.
