Missouri artist Steve Snell will talk about his “Adventure Art on the Mighty Mo’” film series as part of the Marshall Public Library summer reading program on June 25 at 6 p.m.
Snell traveled the length of the Missouri River painting what he saw. Starting at the headwaters in Montana, he created more than a hundred paintings while on expedition down the river. Several of these paintings will be on display at the library throughout the month.
Before the evening presentation, Snell will host a “plein air” watercolor workshop at Indian Foothills Park at 3 p.m., inviting local residents aged 16 and up to learn how to paint landscapes. En plein air is a French expression meaning “in the open air” and refers to the act of painting outdoors.
The library will supply free paint, brushes, and paper limited to the first twenty participants who sign up to the workshop. The 6 p.m. library presentation does not require signup.
You can sign up for the workshop here.
