The 24th Fayette Juneteenth Celebration begins Wednesday, with events planned over five days.
Committee member Tim Jackman says the first two evenings will highlight the reason for marking the holiday, with a presentation Wednesday evening by the Rev. C. W. Dawson Jr. The festival has added the staging of a play Thursday evening about Juneteenth.
The celebration will continue Friday night with a Gospel Fest.
The Fayette Juneteenth Celebration will feature a parade, food tent and fireworks Saturday and community worship service on the Howard County courthouse lawn Sunday morning. More information is available on the celebration committee’s Facebook page.
