Marshall Mayor Vince Lutterbie delivered a proclamation designating June 20, 2024 as Arbor Day in Marshall.
Arbor Day is normally celebrated on the last Friday of April. Lutterbie says future proclamations will be delivered on that planned date. The city celebrated the tree planting ceremony at Indian Foothills Park.
Marshall celebrated the tree planting ceremony and became the latest Tree City USA certified community. Lutterbie spoke about the positive environmental impact trees have on the community during his proclamation. Lutterbie says the city already has future plans to plant and manage more trees in city limits.
Certified Tree City USA communities have to establish a tree board, pass a tree care ordinance, and commit to spending at least $2 per resident on forest management.
