The Kansas City Royals dropped their third straight game on the West Coast on Wednesday, unable to provide run support for starter Cole Ragans in a 5-1 loss to the Oakland Athletics.

Ragans allowed two runs on four hits and four walks, while striking out seven. Those two runs came off a pair of singles in the third, while all the Royals could plate was Nelson Velázquez on a Bobby Witt Jr double in the fifth. The A’s would add two more in the seventh, also on RBI singles, while Zach Gelof belted his seventh home run of the season in the eighth.

The Royals remain in third in the AL Central, six games behind Cleveland. After sweeping the Athletics earlier this season at The K, the Royals are at risk of being swept in their last-ever trip to the Oakland Coliseum. First pitch for Thursday afternoon’s game is at 2:37, with pregame from 2 p.m. on KMMO AM 1300.
