
With heat indices forecast to approach 110, several cooling centers are opening up across Saline County.
In Marshall, the Salt Fork YMCA will have its lobby open as a cooling center during its normal hours, closing at 9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 7 p.m. on Fridays, and 6 p.m. on the weekends. Also, the Marshall Aquatic Center will charge $2 per person for admission June 24th because of the extreme heat.
The City of Slater will have city hall open during business hours as a cooling center, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
In Sweet Springs, residents needing a cooling center can visit City Hall weekdays until 5 p.m. The city pool is also charging $1 admission Monday, June 24th and Tuesday, June 25th.
Residents outside these areas will need to contact their city or county’s emergency management offices.
