The Marshall Municipal Utilities Board of Public Works took several actions during its meeting on Thursday, June 27.
The board started by accepting a grant from the West Central Solid Waste Management District Region F for the purchase of a new auto tie bale. grant amount was $182,000 and a 60/40 split.
The board previously applied for an 85 percent grant, and MMU would have only needed to set aside $45,922.75 for the baler, however the grant was only approved for 60 percent. The match required for the approved grant amount is now $117,485.
After some discussion, the board voted to accept the grant.
In other news, the board accepted a bid from Maguire Iron Inc. to sandblast and re-coat the interior of the water tower. The tower was last cleaned and inspected in 2017. The board approved the bid in the amount of $95,000.
