
James Edward, affectionately known as “Jim” or “Red” McCord, 71, of Marshall, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 11, 2024.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to family choice and an online guestbook is available at www.campbell-lewis.com
Born May 15, 1953, in Marshall, he was the son of the late William Edward McCord and Elizabeth Jane Miller McCord. Jim’s mother passed away when he was young and his father later married Amanda Louise Downs Reagles, who helped finish raising him, and she survives of Marshall. He lived in Marshall most of his life, where he was a 1972 graduate of Marshall High School and member of First Christian Church. Following high school he worked for Ralph’s Phillips 66, and following that, began a nearly 40 year career with Diehm’s Tire Service in Marshall. He began as a service man and then advanced to an on the road tire sales representative. On December 27, 1977, he married Carol Dean Carrico and though they later divorced they continued to support and care for their family.
Jim is survived by two children, Cyrus Edward McCord (Heather), and Cynthia Jordan McCord; three grandchildren: Chase, Hadley and Liam, all of Marshall; his stepmother, Amanda McCord of Marshall; one sister, Beverly Sue McCord Nagel of Cincinnati, OH and her family, Dr. Eli Coston of Richmond, VA, Brittany Nagel and her daughter, Brianna Nagel of Milwaukee, WI; a stepbrother, Wendell Lee Reagles (Connie), of Marshall and their daughter, Ashton Reagles Stanton (Brandon) of Alma; a stepsister, Jean Louise Reagles Hood (Rod Sullivan) of Smithton and her sons, Joseph Hood, Jeffrey Hood and Jacob Hood, and their families; as well as several cousins and extended family; friends and family that passed through their home on Vest Street; and the Thompson family.
