Three of the Kansas City Royals’ four All-Star Game selections took the field in the sixth inning of Tuesday’s 5-3 win for the American League.

Bobby Witt Jr and Salvador Perez both struck out in their only at bat, but were instrumental in keeping the National League from responding to the two-run home run by the game’s most valuable player, Boston outfielder Jerran Duran. Witt contributed to a double-play in the sixth. Cole Ragans also took to the field in the sixth, getting Freddie Freeman to ground into the double-play after striking out Bryce Harper and giving up a single to Will Smith. Seth Lugo pitched in the seventh inning, allowing singles to Elly De La Cruz and Bryan Reynolds, but striking out Ryan McMahon and getting Marcell Ozuna to ground out to end the inning.

Cardinals closer Ryan Helsley did not take the field, making Tuesday’s All-Star Game the first since 2007 when no Cardinals appeared in the midseason classic.
