The Moberly City Council approved several ordinances and resolutions during its meeting on Monday, July 15.

The council approved an ordinance to approve a mutual aid agreement with the Missouri Public Utility Alliance. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) requires that cities have a mutual aid agreement in place before a disaster occurs. Without it, FEMA will not reimburse for the first 8 hours of recovery costs. Many other area cities and municipalities have mutual aid agreements with MPUA, including Carrollton, Fayette, Higginsville, Marshall, and several others.

The council also approved a resolution to appoint Gregory Hodge as interim City Treasurer and interim City Collector. Hodge is taking over for Matt Douglass. The city council thanked Douglass for everything he’s done for the city and wished him the best moving forward.

In other news, the council approved the appointment of John Meystrik to the Moberly Public Building Corporation.
