Slater City Administrator Gene Griffith announced that the city was awarded two different grants during the Slater City Council meeting on Tuesday, July 16.

The first grant was a Region F grant that will be used for ADA picnic tables and benches for the city’s parks. Griffith reported that it was an 80/20 grant that covers $16,000 of the cost. The Missouri Department of Natural Resources still has to give final approval before the city receives the funds.

It was announced the city also received a $339,520 Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) grant to continue constructing sidewalks in the city.

Griffith reported the funds will be used to build more sidewalks around the city park and school.

The federally funded TAP grant provides opportunities to expand transportation choices and enhance the transportation experience through categories of activities related to the surface transportation system.
