The community of Roanoke on the Howard/Randolph County line will host its annual ice cream social and concert Saturday evening at the town’s historic bandstand.

Barb Vossler of the Roanoke Band Association has a preview of the evening’s event, starting at 6 p.m.

Vossler says the bandstand, built in 1906, is a point of pride for Roanoke residents past and present, with many of them helping out at the event.

Proceeds will benefit the upkeep of the Roanoke Bandstand and surrounding park, located at the junction of Routes 3 and 129. Ice cream is served at 6 p.m., with the concert beginning at 7.
