Betty Wasson Singer, 93, of Sedalia, passed away July 20, 2024, at Sylvia G. Thompson Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born November 16, 1930, in Sedalia, to the late James B. and Marie R. (Byrne) Wasson. She graduated from Hughesville (now Northwest) High School and always loved and supported her school. Betty met Leonard Singer on a long, rural school bus ride. They were married October 28, 1950, in San Diego, CA. He preceded her in death on February 1, 2013, and since that day she has been preparing to meet him again.

Betty worked at Western Electric, part of AT&T, many years, before retiring. She was a member of Sorosis, D.A.R., the Pettis County Historical Society, and First Baptist Church of Sedalia. She enjoyed historical research and wrote books about Pettis County.

She is survived by her daughter Dr. Becky Imhauser (Bill) of Sedalia; two grandchildren Joe Carr of Sedalia and Leah Carr Shive (Kelby) of Blue Springs; two great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law Elle Wasson Duggan of Sedalia. Betty was preceded in death by a sister, five brothers, and a son-in-law Dr. Steve Carr.

Betty’s Celebration of Life will be held later. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in care of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel to the Northwest Alumni Scholarship Fund for the Leonard and Betty Singer Scholarship or the Mt. Herman Cemetery Association.
