Marshall Mayor Vince Lutterbie says the city assuming ownership of the Eastwood School next year will provide potential growth and development for the city.

Lutterbie tells KMMO News that with Marshall Schools now owing most of the former Marshall Habilitation Center site, the Eastwood building was a key part of the land swap that took place earlier this month.

Lutterbie says several stipulations placed by the state on the center’s acreage meant that the city could only use the land for themselves or transfer it to the school district.

Lutterbie says the Eastwood School building is in good condition, and several people have already approached the city about the building’s future. The school is still in use this coming academic year, with the intermediate school set for completion in August 2025.
