
The Kansas City Current completed an unblemished run through pool play in the NWSL x Liga MX Femenil Summer Cup, defeating Tigres UANL on Thursday night 4-1 at CPKC Stadium.
Midfielder Vanessa DiBernardo set up both goals in the first half, delivering a free kick in the 23rd minute to Lo’eau LaBonta for the first score, then helping defender Ellie Wheeler extend the lead six minutes later. Debinha added the Current’s third goal shortly after Tigres got on the board, while Claire Hutton netted her first career goal in the 78th minute.
The Current will have the top seed in the Summer Cup semifinals, with both games taking place Tuesday night at CPKC Stadium.
