
The Kansas City Royals picked up their fifth straight win, defeating the Detroit Tigers 9-2 on Friday, August 3.
The Tigers took an early lead against Cole Ragans, scoring two first inning runs. The Royals offense responded by scoring a run in the second, two in the fourth, and six in the seventh.
Ragans settled in to pitch 5 2/3 innings, giving up two runs on two hits. He walked four and struck out six. Salvador Perez had three hits, including his 20th homer of the year. Vinnie Pasquantino and Paul DeJong each drove in a pair of runs.
Every Royal in the lineup recorded a hit in the game.
Kansas City improves to 62-49 on the season, six games back of Cleveland in the AL Central.
