Valmer Geneva Edwards Thomas, 97 of Sedalia passed away to be with the Lord Jesus, Friday, August 2, 2024 at Sylvia Thompson Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services will be 11am, Thursday, August 8, 2024 at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Jonathan Wallenbeck officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00am until service time at the church. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, with Greg Chaplin, Norm Klein, Roy Bryson, Carroll Howard and Roy Lynn Rayl, as pall bearers. The family suggests memorials to Calvary Baptist Church, in care of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.

Valmer was born July 25, 1927 in New Franklin, MO to the late Ernest and Maurine Childers Clark. Her parents moved to Cooper CO, when she was four years old. She attended grade school at Bel-Air, and graduated from Boonville High School with the class of 1945.

In 1946, she married Lloyd A. Edwards, Sr. He preceded her in death in 1976.

In January 1984, she married Zeb Thomas. She enjoyed helping him with the livestock in the early years and had many of the livestock named. He preceded her in death 2022.

Valmer was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she attended more than 50 years. She was an active singer in the choir and was a Sunday School Teacher for 20 plus years.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law Joann Edwards of Cedar Creek, TX; stepdaughter Cindy Birdwell of LaMonte; grandchildren Eric Edwards of Las Vegas, NV and Tyler Edwards of Eldon, MO; special friend who looked after her, Shirley Morley of Sedalia, along with 3 step-grandchildren; few step great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Valmer was preceded in death by her son Lloyd A. Edwards, Jr., infant daughter Marilyn and brother Delmar Clark.

She lived her life as an Intervision in prayer for others. She believed in this quote “Only one life will soon be passed, only the things for Christ will last.”
