
Virginia Marie McCurry, 95, of Brunswick, MO, died Friday, August 9, 2024 at Pioneer Skilled Nursing in Marceline, MO. Virginia was born August 13, 1928 in Brunswick, MO the daughter of Otto John and Bertha S. (Reigelsberger) Reichert. She married Laurance Elmo “Larry “McCurry on January 10, 1949 at St. Boniface Catholic Church and he preceded her in death on December 17, 1971.
Virginia was a graduate of Brunswick High School, class of 1946, and she was the last remaining classmate. She worked as a clerk for Knight &Rucker Department Store, 1946-1952 was bookkeeper for MFA Elevator and head bookkeeper for Kinkhorst Bottling Company, co-owner of McCurry Funeral Home beginning in 1953 until she partnered with Don Berry and sold ½ to Darry Quinley in 1986 forming McCurry-Berry-Quinley. Virginia was a member of the St. Boniface Catholic Church and Alter Society, Tri-T Society, Rucker-McAllister American Legion Post #7 Auxiliary. She loved doing crossword puzzles, reading and connecting on Facebook. Virginia enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Virginia is survived by sons Greg (Lisa) McCurry of Plano,TX, Kenneth Michael “Mike” (Barbara) McCurry of Kingsville, MO, Larry (Kathy) McCurry of Brookfield, MO, Kelly (Samantha) McCurry of Platte City, MO, Mark McCurry of Brunswick, MO, daughters Carolyn “Carol” Manson of Salisbury, Debra (Bruce) Strodtman of Salisbury, MO, daughter-in-law Penny McCurry of Overland Park, KS, brother Michael “Mick” (Jean) Reichert of Peoria, AZ, sister Lillian (Bob) Widmer of Salisbury, MO, 25 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Rick McCurry, three infant children Patricia, John, Mary, son-in-law Charles “Tuck” Manson, brothers Donald Reichert, Robert Reichert, Charles (Virginia) Reichert, sisters Joan (Sam) Johnson, Eleanor (Ray) Richardson, and granddaughter Heidi Strodtman.
Visitation is Tuesday, August 13, 2024 from 4-7:00 p.m., with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury, MO. Mass of Christian Burial is Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Brunswick, MO, with burial in St. Boniface Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Boniface Cemetery or Family Choice.
