The Kansas City Current and French midfielder Claire Lavogez have agreed to end her contract with the NWSL side, allowing her to ink a deal in Spain.

Lavogez arrived in KC in July 2022, leading the team to the NWSL Championship match that fall. She missed most of the 2023 season because of injury, but came back this season to score two goals in four minutes to lead the Current to victory at Angel City FC. Lavogez is making her way to Basque Country, as shortly after the Current ended Lavogez’s contract, Real Sociedad Femenino announced that they had signed her.

The Current host the Memelodi Sundowns of South Africa on Wednesday night at CPKC Stadium as the second half of a double-header. Kickoff is at 8 p.m., after the conclusion of Atletico de Madrid versus Kobe.
