The University of Missouri Tigers football team will start the season ranked 11th in the Associated Press’ preseason poll.

The poll, released Monday, shows the Tigers as one of nine teams from the Southeastern Conference in the top 25. Georgia is the preseason number one, claiming 46 of the 62 top votes. Ohio State is second, followed by Oregon, Texas, and Alabama. Among Mizzou’s conference foes, Ole Miss is sixth, LSU 13th, Tennessee 15th, Oklahoma 16th, and Texas A&M 20th. Both Kansas and Kansas State are ranked, with K-State 18th and the Jayhawks 22nd.  The Tigers are also eleventh in the AFCA Division One coaches’ poll.

Mizzou will kick off the season August 29th against Murray State. KMMO AM 1300 will carry the game that evening, with pregame at 5 p.m.

The first Division Two football coaches poll also came out Monday, with the Central Missouri Mules ranked second.
