The Sweet Springs Board of Aldermen considered a street closure for an upcoming event during its most recent meeting.

The Board heard a request from the Sweet Springs Fair Board to close Miller Street from Main to Lexington, while also closing Turner Street on Saturday, September 14. Aldermen decided to approve the request with a unanimous vote.

Aldermen also heard from Tara Brewer, who came representing the Sweet Springs Restoration Foundation and the Chamber of Commerce. She presented information regarding the Halloween event and the Winter Weekend planned in the city.

Trunks or Treats is scheduled to be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 26. Costume and Cocktails is scheduled at 7 p.m. that evening as well. Brewer requested that Miller Street, from Turner and Lexington be closed for the event between 1 p.m. and midnight.

Brewer said the Winter Weekend event is scheduled for November 30, and requested closing Miller Street from Main to Marshall for the event. The board approved both requests.
