A junior from Chillicothe FFA has the grand champion steer at this year’s Missouri State Fair.
Beau Ann Graves picked up top honors for her 1370 pound crossbred steer, during the Market Steer Show on Tuesday afternoon in the historic State Fair Coliseum. Graves says that hard work along with the support of her family and chapter paid off in the show ring.
This year’s market steers and heifers were divided into 50 classes. Graves says the competition was tough but rewarding.
Reserve Grand Champion honors went to Abagayle Britton of the Saxony Lutheran FFA chapter in Cape Girardeau County.
Pettis County had a division winner, with Elijah Dehan’s 1425 pound Foundation Simmental winning the 4-H Division. Another Pettis County exhibitor, Abigail Doty, had the 4-H Division’s reserve grand champion crossbred steer weighing 1355 pounds. The reserve grand champion purebreed steer in the FFA division was exhibited by Bailey Riley of Marshall, a Maintainer weighing 1395 pounds.
Graves and Britton will have their steers in the Sale of Champions this Saturday afternoon at 1:30 in the Lowell Mohler Assembly Hall. KMMO will have a livestream of the sale on our website.
